How do I determine the date of manufacture with my product serial number?

This article discusses how to decode the date of manufacture based on your product serial number.

  1. For units with the first two numbers of the serial number starting with 81 through 99, these units are considered obsolete and will not be processed.
  2. The units with the first four digits are the date of manufacture in YYMM format on units manufactured, starting in “00” 2000 through 2018 (March).
  3. Units manufactured from March 2018 to 2024 will have an E or R in the serial number.
  4. First four digits are the date of manufacture in YYWW format on units manufactured starting 2024.

Units manufactured prior to 2006 (over 18 years old) are considered not serviceable.
